Weeds

In picture books
And fairy tales
Meadows are filled with flowers,
sun-kissed and vibrant.
Multi-hued butterflies
light on grass
as soft as goose down.
The meadow I see
every day from my driveway
Can't compare to those visions
But it is blessed with brightly colored
weeds and battling mosquitoes
and somehow, to me,
it is no less beautiful.
