Dreams of Water and You

What a dream I had

You were there

holding my trembling hand

breathing the salty air

While the waves crashed on

our souls so bare

I kissed your smiling face

a thousand times so fair

Your words were softer

than pale white sand

The sun heard us calling

shining at our command

Days and nights were spent

splashed with light

and our laughter mingled

with seagulls in flight

At last I awoke

against my will

a gray wintery dawn

on my window sill

I’ll always return

to the deep blue,

soft kisses and sand

Dreams of water and you
