Education of the Ants

The sidewalk cracks
swallowing ants
and used gum
leaving behind
larger refuse
less valuable.

If taught how to dance
how to step
out of that
destructive path
the ant will live
for another day
and the gum
will remain
on the bottom of your shoe.
